They were only on last Wednesday, but already it feels like it's been a month since then. Just been so busy with stuff lately. I'll get right to what I remember.
After work, my Dad drove me down to the venue (Variety Playhouse) where the Walk was going to start from. Problem was, my Dad nearly got lost. We were just driving around for a good five minutes, trying to figure out the best way to get to the venue.
Finally, we found our way through the traffic (with my Dad complaining about bad drivers most of the way) and got to the venue just before the Walk was supposed to start. I met my friend there while waiting for Isaac, Taylor, and Zac to come out of the venue to begin the Walk. I registered and got a pathetic excuse of a Walking stamp on my left hand.
The guys came out at nearly 6pm that evening to start the Walk! The first one done at dark! Definitely not the last, though. My friend and I both took off our shoes and walked when it was time. It felt like the longest 1 mile Walk I had ever done, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been because I was walking with my friend the whole time and we got pretty close to Taylor at one point.
Then, Zac stopped to make sure the rest of the Walkers were shown the correct way to go (my friend and I included). I heard somebody just behind us say something about being sorry that we were so far behind everyone else as we approached Zac and he reassured us that it was not a problem. He didn't mind waiting. A bit later, I heard him a little ways behind us and talking about something to do with Tulsa, OK (their hometown).
Eventually, Taylor found a good place to stop where everyone could gather so that he could make his Walk/AIDS speech. I then hurried back with my friend to the venue to get back in the Walk line so that we be one of the first people to get inside the venue and get fairly good spots.
As we were standing in line, the guys came back along the Walk line and talked to us for a bit. There was a younger guy standing near my friend and I in line who had a hat on similar to ones that Taylor has worn before. So, Zac came up to stand just a few feet away from us and talked to the younger guy about his hat and probably something else as well that I don't remember right now. I wish I'd taken a video of him or said something to him .. but I digress.
Anyway, we were standing in line for about another half hour before the Walkers were let inside one by one. That pathetic excuse of a Walking stamp I mentioned earlier almost threatened my entering into the building with my friend. Thankfully, the guy who was checking for our stamps and our tickets said that I could enter after some convincing. He'd said he was 'just kidding' after I'd tried to convince him. *sigh*
My friend and I found some good seats in the middle section, second row. We waited and I got some food and drink while Jarrod Gorbel played with his violinist. I liked him fine, but I'm not sure that I'll be getting his CD or anything.
Finally, Hanson came on and began their set! In between songs, they would sometimes stand/sit there and talk to the audience - mostly about the songs, I believe. Their show ROCKED! I loved that they played Oh Darlin' by The Beatles again!
They ended with Lost Without Each Other and then their lesser known song Ugly Truth. My friend and I left as they were bowing to the audience, but as we walked out, we checked behind us at the guys ever so often for some last glimpses before they would go on with the rest of their tour.
My friend dropped me off back at my house at about 11:45pm. I was pretty surprised that the concert ended that soon. Usually, they had two or three encore songs, which added about 7-8 minutes onto when I would get home at night. So anyway, that's the end.
I'm really hoping to get to see my friends pictures from the Walk and concert before too long. |
